so one application is completely finished, and a second is done all but a final edit of the essay. and the third - the only school i've actually visited so far - is on the fence. it's due one week from today, so it might as well already be late, and it's not on the top of my list for where i want to go. first of all, it's the most prestigious university i'm applying to, even though the music school has a reputation for being sub-standard, yet the music people all seem to make a very big deal out of how important and unique their school is... i don't like that. it's one thing to have pride in one's honest accomplishments and skills, but to brag just because of their prestige? je n'aime pas ça. also, the program is so far distanced from the music itself that i wonder if i'll really get to be studying any music at all, or just studying other people's ideas in the field.
